In
Sanskrit, the term for community or tribe is kula. Mamas-to-be often find much
needed support from their “mama tribe,” but how does one begin to create one?
Begin by networking with mamas who are taking prenatal classes with you and who
are having little ones around your due date. Take note of the mamas that
resonate with you and your ideas about health, parenting and life. In addition
to mamas, surround yourself with providers that support your parenting beliefs.
For instance, if you want to breastfeed, then find a lactation consultant(s)
and/or support groups that will support your decision. Additionally, reach out
to trusted mama tribes in social media. Here is a list of some of my favorite
social media mama tribes:
- Cesarean Awareness - ICAN of San Diego: http://www.icanofsandiego.org/
- Lactation Support – Babies In Bloom, Kellymom, Best for Babes
- Cloth diapering –San Diego Real Diaper Circle: http://www.sdrealdiapercircle.org/
- Baby wearing San Diego: http://www.babywearingsandiego.com/
…and of course I would love to have you stay in
touch with me: www.facebook.com/YogawithLisaBandong.
Enjoy this time and surround yourself with people who
resonate with you. Namaste.
