Ringing in 2016

Winter/Spring 2016
The city of San Marcos has published and delivered the latest edition of their quarterly magazine called 360. Inside of it is a host of great information about San Marcos happenings from how to prepare for El Nino to the latest road upgrades to economic development updates. The city’s parks and recreation guide begins on page 11, which has a wonderful variety of activities created for all ages that range from family swim programs to senior computer classes to art shows and concerts.

There are so many wonderful programs through the city’s park and recreation, and most of these programs offer the first class freepre/postnatalyoga included. Come try out classes, and feel free to contact the recreation staff if there is a particular class you are looking for – perhaps, you may even be willing to instruct.

My family was fortunate enough to be on the front cover of the recreation guide because the city is highlighting the instructors involved in the recreation programs. I have been teaching prenatal yoga through the parks and recreation department for the past six years. I love teaching here, and my belief is that classes should be accessible to everyone and should be an opportunity for a community to flourish. The city of San Marcos Parks and Recreation delivers great programs, and are wonderful collaborators. I am truly blessed to live where I work. Check out the programs, check out the facilities, and meet some of your neighbors.

Special thank you to my prenatal yoga model, Tania, and my photographer, Christine, for the fabulous prenatal yoga photos both in the recreation guide and on this website.

Pregnancy Kula Series begins February 5, 2015

I am excited to share with you upcoming collaborations that are coming to class. North County has a plethora of wonderful resources to help expectant families. The Pregnancy Kula Series is an opportunity for the prenatal yoga kula to meet pre-and post-nal providers. Providers will be taking class with prenatal yoga students, and then will be available for a 15 minute Q&A immediately following class.

Our inaugural guest is Donna Irwin owner of Birth Inspired. She will be joining class on Thursday, February 5, and will be sharing her knowledge on doula, midwifery, and postpartum care.

Donna is a birth doula and student midwife serving San Diego County who has passionately studied birth since 2008 and began attending births in 2010. She completed her doula training through toLabor (ALACE) and is currently a senior midwifery student.

Come join us for class and ask Donna any questions you have about doulas, midwifery, and postpartum resources!

Partners are always welcome, and remember - the first class is free!!!

Start 2015 with Prenatal Yoga in San Marcos

I am excited to announce the 2015 Winter/Spring schedule for Prenatal Yoga in San Marcos through the City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation.

It is such a pleasure to embark on my fifth year working with the City of San Marcos as they allow me to provide affordable classes in a comfortable non-intimidating atmosphere. This prenatal yoga class is built for both the novice as well as the experienced yogi. This is the opportunity for expectant mothers to build a community of support. Come join our community! The first class is free!

Online registration is available through the city's park and recreation portal: http://www.ci.san-marcos.ca.us/index.aspx?page=188
